READINESS SCORECARD

Rate five factors, get one number, and a coaching call on what today's session should look like. The same math the Center Mass Adaptive System runs before every workout.

The Bar Doesn't Care How You Slept

You woke up at 3:17, stared at the ceiling, and now you're standing in front of the bar with a plan written for a different man. The bar doesn't care how you slept — but today's plan should.

The same 80% that moved like a warm-up on Tuesday can sit like a max on Thursday, and you won't know which until the bar is in your hands. This scorecard takes that guess off the table in under a minute.

Why Readiness Is the Whole Game After 40

At 25 you could ignore the signals and the work still got done. After 40, recovery stops being predictable. Sleep debt, work stress, a hard block, a nagging shoulder: the same program on two different days produces a PR or a setback.

Run the same plan with a 25-year-old and a 46-year-old. One recovers like it's a job. The other's recovery is a weather system, and the forecast changes daily. The young one can ignore all of it and still hit the numbers. You can't, and pretending otherwise is how promising blocks turn into physio appointments.

The cost of guessing wrong isn't one bad session. It's a deadlift you had no business taking, a week of grinding on a stale nervous system, a shoulder that quietly stops the block. Readiness is the readiness after 50 problem: the input that decides whether today's intensity builds you or buries you.

Rate how you feel right now, not last week, not after the first set. Honest answers only: this isn't a grade, it's input. Five factors, 1 to 5, under a minute.

1 · TERRIBLE5 · GREAT
01SLEEP
Hours, and how deep they felt. Duration alone lies.
02STRESS
Work, family, the stuff outside the gym. It all counts.
03FATIGUE
Whole-body tiredness. How heavy the day feels before it starts.
04SORENESS
Muscle and joint. Sharp pain and honest ache are not the same.
05DRIVE
Want to train. Motivation is data, not weakness.
READINESS SCORE
15 / 25
COMPOSITE · 5–25 SCALE
SCORE 12–16
SUBMAXIMAL / TECHNIQUE DAY

Technique day. Keep the bar moving between 50 and 65 percent, crisp reps, zero grinders. You're recovering, not detraining. A light session done well keeps tomorrow honest.

What the Number Means

Five is a body that needs the day off. Twenty-five is a body ready to hunt. Everything between is a dial, not a verdict. Here's the coaching call for each range:

21–25 TRAIN AS PRESCRIBED Run the top sets. The plan was written for today's you.
17–20 KEEP THE SESSION, DROP LOADS ~5% Same work, slightly less steel. The stimulus still lands.
12–16 SUBMAXIMAL / TECHNIQUE DAY 50–65%, crisp reps, zero grinders. Recover without detraining.
5–11 REST OR MOBILITY Walk, mobilize, eat, sleep. Tomorrow is a training day.

What the Number Is Not

It's not a personality test, it's not permission to skip the gym, and it's not a substitute for a warm-up. It's a load adjustment. A low score doesn't mean you're weak. It means the tissue isn't recovered enough to make today's prescribed weight productive, and forcing it buys a setback at full price.

This Is the Manual Version

One honest note: this scorecard is the manual version of the morning check-in inside Center Mass Strength. Same five factors, same scale, same verdicts. In the app it takes twenty seconds, and the Adaptive System takes it from there: working loads adjust ±5% on the days your body isn't where the calendar thought it would be, and deloads get scheduled before your body demands them.

Your call today, automated tomorrow. Outlast, out-program, out-recover: that's the whole system.
